On a trip home from Maine this summer I paid a quick visit to Prescott Park one of my favorite spots in glorious Portsmouth N.H. http://www.prescottparknh.org/
A public park established in 1954, Prescott Park is comprised of over ten acres of lawns, gardens and walkways located along the Piscataqua River waterfront. In addition to hosting the annual New Hampshire Art Association juried art show, and the Prescott Park Arts Festival the park is the home to spectacular formal gardens including nearly 40 display garden beds filled with annuals and perennials provided by the Thompson School of the University of New Hampshire and meticulously maintained by the park staff.
All-America Selections®flowers are featured in the display gardens, making it a great place to view new flowers that have proven to be reliable new varieties. The All America Selections (AAS) is a national program that selects the best of the new varieties each year. All-America Selections is an independent, non-profit organization that tests new varieties then introduces the best garden performers as AAS Winners.
The AAS mission statement is “To promote new garden seed varieties with superior garden performance judged in impartial trials in North America.” http://www.all-americaselections.org/index.cfm
Here are a few of these new award winning varieties that caught my eye:
This is All-America Selections’ first winning kale (edible or ornamental) in seventy-eight years of trialing!
